Miller's Sweet Lies Poem by Alyssa Marquardt

Miller's Sweet Lies

Light flashes quickly.
Past this pitch black scene.
Another day has passed,
Another night of pure demean.

Seized by a disease.
With a hold so tight.
Suffocating you,
As the ones around watch in fright.

It washes over and around you.
Drowning you.
Hiding and killing the person you are.
Carving invisible scars.

Tears.
Cried..
In this unwanted pain,
I must abide.
Tagging along,
Serving as my
unwanted,
deceiving,
friend.
Following me with no end.

It is true,
what you've been told-
About the things this illness can do-
About the strength it holds.
But everyone knows about your strong will.
We know its enough to kill.
This disease.

So get out the pistol,
And aim for your life.
Demolish this killer we've come to despise
and save us all from Miller's sweet lies.
