Mirage Poem by Bireswar Halder

Mirage

Rating: 4.5

Don't see the world with coloured glasses, my darling,
There are illusions everywhere around you on this earth
Sometimes even naked eyes get cheated and deceived
Please don't run after whatever glitters - it may not be gold.

Be practical, be very scrupulous like a diamond examiner
And try to observe meticulously to see its genuineness
From various angles, not partly but sharply and completely
Till you come to conclusion about its purity and perfect worth.

Don't get pleased with sweet words of villain in guise of a saint.
Don't get tempted only by the scholastic rhetoric of a satan
His mind may be full of filth with some sinister intentions
Being immature by nature, every possibility of gullibility.

A man can never be judged by his outward gloss or pomp,
An ordinary wood covered with sandal scents is not fit for worship
Please don't get befooled before the villain finally wins the game.
Wealth and conventional higher education can't bring peace.

Stand on your own feet, not like parasites and be strong enough
Don't get prompted by the outward beauty of anything, my darling
Be judicious, practical; observe scrupulously not by coloured glasses
Otherwise you will ruin yourself like a mirage of oasis in desert.
