Mis-Education Poem by Rhona McFerran

Mis-Education

They taught me as a child
To look the other way
To smile and act as if
I don't hear what they say

They taught me as a teen
To speak and shake their hand
No matter what their crimes
To never take a stand

They taught me- an adult
I never should complain
Speak only of the positive
And nothing of my pain

And now I find I must
Entirely learn again
To speak and act the truth of GOD
And not the wiles of men

That insidious education
Has crept into my soul
Corrupt misinformation
Detoured me from the goal

It sounded smooth and pleasant
Seeming peace and harmony
But with every truth that I denied
It stole a piece of me
