Misery Loves Company Poem by Lilith Van'Nightinveil

Misery Loves Company

In the depths of my despair,
I find myself lost in between,
Betrayed by those who once were there,
And left alone to my tortured dreams.

The ones I called my friends,
Have turned their backs on me,
Leaving me to fend,
For myself, in misery.

So I make friends with demons,
Whose company I find sublime,
For they understand my demons,
And they too have known the pain of time.

I know that they are not kind,
And that they bring me naught but sorrow,
But in their company, I find,
A comfort that I cannot borrow.

And so I walk this path alone,
With only demons by my side,
For I have learned that humans groan,
And their love is a fickle tide.

Betrayed, lost, and all alone,
I find solace in the dark,
With demons as my only home,
And my heart as cold as bark.

Oh, how I long for human touch,
And the warmth of a loving friend,
But I know that such a dream is much,
And so I make amends.

I make friends with demons,
And I walk this path alone,
For I have learned that in this world of scheming,
The only true friend is a heart of stone.
