with sparkling eyes
and your heart on your sleeve
i saw you from a million miles away
but my heart still jumped
when you appeared beside me

what did you mean by that?

with an eye to the wall
and my heart on the floor
you spoke with me, silently
like the universe fell away
and it was just you and me

what did you mean by that?

if i could do it again
i'd do it again—and again
just to get you right
like you wanted me to
like i wanted me to

but with your light so bright
and my walls so high
i saw you from a universe away
but my heart still jumped
and fear took hold of me

then away from you i ran
just in case you'd break me
because i know you could-
though i wish you weren't
another missed opportunity
