Mis-Souled Poem by Mary Champion

Mis-Souled

Some marriages can be compared to shoes,
you check out what's on offer then you choose.
You try them on and stroll about a bit -
they do not rub or pinch - the perfect fit?
But walk around all day in them and feel
the blisters that are forming on your heel.
The corns, you never realised you had,
are throbbing and you know you will be glad
to kick them off and walk around barefoot.
You wish to God that you had never put
your tender toes into this painful trap.
And that is why some marriages are crap.
