I saw two old women today
walking arm in arm out the sliding doors of the hospital
laughing and giggling and carrying on
drawing on each others strength for support.
The vision in front of me brought joy to my heart
and I couldn't help but think
of the two of us and the way we are
I hope we never change.
Thier grey hair fashioned almost the same
the slow gait on each other they blamed
the years of friendship tangible
and audible the merriment produced by the other.
I see us in the two of them
sticking to each other through all the years
holding on to each other during pain and tears,
celebrating our goals and success.
The bond between us is no little thing
for which I am grateful
you and I and the two old ladies
we are something better than just friends.
