Darkness still lays like a blanket across the sky
No one has yet stirred to greet a new day
I sit here quietly trying not to wake even a mouse
All is at peace here in this house
Soon my husband will open his eyes
From the bed he will tumble
Armed with a smile, of that I am sure
And is with him when his feet reach the floor
The dogs are still quiet too
That is quite a feat
As they just want their meat!
Then a walk down a leaf strewn lane
I will get no peace till this task is complete
No matter what else I want to do
The dogs will win, no matter what I do.
but just for another moment or two
If I keep very quiet, they might not hear
The tapping of my fingers across the keyboard
Too late, a bark and a roar, something I just cannot ignore
