Mox Nix Poem by D A Phinney

Mox Nix

I knew that you could help me
But you only let me down
Well you took off in your airplane
Left me here on the ground
Your p'liceman lost his confidence
And now his siren fills the town
If you don't need me anymore
Then I just won't stick around

You built yourself a rocket
So that you could see the end
Your door is open to your neighbors
But your dogs won't let 'em in
I have to pick up my rifle
Every time you call me 'friend'
Once I get away from you
You won't see me again

I saw ten million people marching
Though they were all alone
You thought you saw them smile at you
But I know I heard them moan
Your disciples got their silver
They don't know it's just a loan
The beggars waited at your gate this morning
But you were gone
