Mr Love Please Retire Poem by Bancroft Boreland

Mr Love Please Retire

You were my best friend
I followed you because I believed you
But you lead me astray
And kept my happiness at bay

You’re a movie I’ll never watch
A disease I’ll never catch
You’re a gift I’ll never share
And a burden I refuse to bear
You’re heartless
You’ve caused me infinite stress

You’ve filled my heart with so much sorrow
And filled tomorrow
With tangible horror
My life’s so shallow
That a measure of happiness I long to borrow
For everyone with a broken heart
I speak on their behalf
You failed at your job
Our happiness you’ve robbed
Love we no longer desire
So we ask kindly
Mr. Love please retire.
