Musical Interludes Poem by Mary Champion

Musical Interludes

Moonlight Sonata

Bypassing my ears,
the music streams through the centre of my mind.
The notes fall on my awareness
like those huge drops of rain
that splash into the dust
to herald a summer storm.

Plop! Plop! Plop!

But this time
the promised deluge
fails to arrive.

Blue Danube

Sharp and taut
the notes swirl and twirl through my mind.
Rising!
Falling!
Merry go Round!
On and On!
Round and round!
Up and down!

Gliding, spiralling along the highwire
towards the crescendo.
