As for the wisdom of Twain, I'd say he's right. All religions are false, after all, for they all depend upon one's own goodness and strength. The only true way to salvation, however, comes in form of the shedding of the blood of a perfect man. No regular man is perfect, so his would never do. Not even if he tried for a million years. As for your poem, it's very well written and I love the structure. Well done.
