Mutiny Poem by Imogene Wagner

Mutiny

There's mutiny and I must hear the trial
Of vagrant heart who leaves my ship at sea
To join a pirate ship that offers more
Than I can offer her until we shore.

A finger tip to cheek is the defense,
A smiling pirate and a gentle kiss,
A will, and words that complicate the choice,
A mouth on neck and full arms that rejoice.

As, were I but a captain I would cry
“Flail heart a dozen lashes and the chains! ”
But I still live and know the blood that's strong...
“Loose heart to joins its love – we'll get along.”
