My Heart An Open Door Poem by Imogene Wagner

My Heart An Open Door

My heart is an open door
With fire-light just inside
To lure you in and warm you
From the chill of eventide.

With music sweetly drifting
Out of the portal's space
To pause you in your seeking
To linger in this place.

To bring you, lonely nomad,
A swift nostalgic dart,
To call you up the flagstones
To step inside my heart.

Oh, Darling, when you've entered
Will you forgive the trick
if I shut the door – lock it,
And throw the key out quick?
