MY LIGHT SHINES ON
Your soul is in the darkest night
Don't curse the darkness—shine a light
Like storms your pain will soon be gone
It's not the end—your light shines on
Embittered by infernal fear
When winter is eternal here
'Twill soon be gone—your light shines on
So cast no shadow—persevere
Even in your darkest day
When frightful trees are gnarled and grey
You must not contemplate your doom
Just light a candle in the gloom
When my cold sun scorns to shine
Her roses hold more thorns than mine
Defy the monster —bitch begone!
My candle burns—the light shines on!
When spectres swirl and then attack
Swooping from the starless black
Although my soul is in affright
I rise again with stars alight
You must resist the cruel and stark
When laughter is a lynch-mob jeer
Illuminate and rule the dark:
"I refuse to live in fear."
Phoenix rising—wings unfurled!
There is beauty in the world
There is still joy and magic here
Let pain and sorrow disappear
Rise again and learn to fly
And be a lovely butterfly
Emerging from its chrysalis
Not gazing into the abyss
And when you fall—not if, but when
Here's how I learned to fly again:
I thanked the scum for breaking me
My pain and anger floated free
In the darkest night of soul
Demented, wild, no longer whole
I will annihilate these fears
I will set fire to these tears
When my cold sun scorns to shine
Her roses hold more thorns than mine
Defy the monster —bitch begone!
My candle burns—the light shines on!
And in the darkness of the night
Don't curse the shadows—shine a light
Spread your wings, no shackles here
So rise and fly, love—disappear!
Surreal and dreamlike is the ride
With waves of chaos alongside
I live, my friend—I will go on
It's not the end—my light shines on
