My Lil Boy Poem by kara towe

My Lil Boy

My darling little boy plays in a field of tall grasses.
His heart is filled with gladness.
He chases grasshoppers and butterflies to his heart’s content.
It is a day well spent.
He makes tee-pees by tying the tops of 6ft high grasses together.
He crawls inside of them to cool from the warm summer weather.
There's a creek close by and that doesn't escape his wandering eyes.
He makes a stick sail boat to float down the creek with a sail made from a leaf.
Every rock and log is turned while he searches for treasure.
He marvels at the smallest of creatures.
Rolly polies, stink beetles and spiders makes his delightful smile wider.
Hearing my voice calling him he runs home.
It’s time for snacking on milk and scones.
Then back out to the field again he goes.
What he'll discover next no one knows.
