Abbey Wilson

My Pappy - Poem by Abbey Wilson

I hold your fragile hand so tightly
as you stare at the t.v.
I know that you can hear me
but you're just in a horrific dream

I know it's time for you to leave
but it's not time for us to let you go
if only you could say hello
this would be my only wish

I kiss your soft warm cheek
as I remind you how much I love you
and tell you of our memories that brew
and what I couldn't have done without you

I can't stop my tears from flowing
as my mom motions me to leave
this would be the last time to see
my happy go lucky pappy
