My Rocking Chair
I watched my grandchildren play today as the breeze brushed through their hair.
They ran and laughed and waved at me
Sitting in my rocking chair.
I remembered watching their mamas play, the same as they were now
The girls would all come running wiping the sweat from their brow
We love you mama would you read us a book? Then they would stop and stare.
Of course I will I told them all, gather by my rocking chair.
We read about princesses, pirates and bears
Oh the adventures we had sitting in my rocking chair.
They grew up so fast and had families of their own.
Sometimes I felt so sad sitting all alone.
But when grandchildren came, it seemed life again was fair, as I held each one in my rocking chair.
So I will sit right here smiling, feeling all the love in the air.
Knowing I loved each and everyone of them here from my rocking chair!
