I
You are the Queen who reigns within my thought,
The only peace my weary soul can find.
Without your love, my life is come to naught;
With open eyes, I still am fully blind.
I cannot live without your constant grace,
For you are all the light I hope to see.
I search for heaven in your shining face,
The only world that matters now to me.
When life becomes a weight too hard to bear,
I fly with you above the reach of pain.
I leave behind my sorrow and despair,
To walk within your gentle heart again.
In every dream, you are the highest goal,
The sovereign and the master of my soul.
II
I have been thrown into a hollow sea,
A shoreless waste where nothingness remains.
No light or solid ground belongs to me,
Just poisoned water flowing through my veins.
The salt of agony is in the air,
A nightmare tide that never seems to end.
I sink into the depths of cold despair,
With not a single hand or loyal friend.
But then your name becomes a steady light,
A signal fire across the dark and grey.
You pull me from the middle of the night,
And lead me back toward the break of day.
The poison of the world is washed away,
When in your loving arms I choose to stay.
III
How can I live if you are far from me?
My soulmate and the ruler of my mind.
You are the only truth that I can see,
The rarest treasure I could ever find.
You are the oxygen I need to breathe,
The vital air that keeps my heart alive.
When bitter winds of sorrow start to seethe,
It is through you alone that I survive.
My lungs would fail without your spirit near,
My pulse would stop and turn as cold as stone.
You take away the shadow of my fear,
And make the path to happiness be known.
I draw my strength from every word you give,
In your reflection, I begin to live.
IV
There was a time when I had lost my way,
When all the world grew blurry and obscure.
I could not tell the darkness from the day,
And of my very self I was not sure.
Did all my friends desert me in my need,
Or did I leave them all behind me first?
My garden grew a thick and tangled weed,
As I was dying of a lonely thirst.
But in that maze where I was wandering lost,
You came to be my savior and my guide.
You did not care about the heavy cost,
But stayed forever closely by my side.
You brought the light back to my dying soul,
And made the broken pieces feel so whole.
V
It's you, my Love, who gave the gift to me,
To take the wheel and drive my life again.
You set my heavy, burdened spirit free,
And broke the iron links of every chain.
Before you came, I had no place to go,
A passenger to fate and cruel design.
I watched the seasons and the rivers flow,
But nothing in this world was truly mine.
Now I am master of the road I take,
With you beside me in the driver's seat.
I face the choices that I have to make,
And find the bitter world is turning sweet.
The vehicle of life is under control,
Because you brought the courage to my soul.
VI
I stood alone as others turned away,
As if I carried some infectious blight.
The people I once knew had naught to say,
But left me in the silence of the night.
They looked at me as if I were a ghost,
A sinner who deserved to be cast out.
The ones I thought I could rely on most,
Were filled with heavy prejudice and doubt.
I was a prisoner within my mind,
Waiting for judgment that would never come.
No mercy in the world was left to find,
And all the music of my life was dumb.
I felt the weight of every judging eye,
While waiting for my spirit just to die.
VII
I was a captive in a cell of stone,
Locked in a room where shadows liked to play.
I sat within the darkness all alone,
And counted every hour of the day.
The gallows stood outside the iron door,
The rope was waiting for my tired neck.
I could not face the world any more,
My life was just a scattered, broken wreck.
I waited for the end to set me free,
To stop the aching in my heavy chest.
There was no hope or future left for me,
Just one final and everlasting rest.
The shadow of the hanger loomed so tall,
Writing my end upon the prison wall.
VIII
But then you came to snatch me from the rope,
Just as the floor was falling from my feet.
You brought the sudden miracle of hope,
And made my ruined life become complete.
You took the heavy noose from off my head,
And held me in a warm and long embrace.
You brought me back from walking with the dead,
By showing me the kindness in your face.
My frozen heart began to feel the heat,
As you protected me from every harm.
I felt the rhythm of a steady beat,
While resting in the safety of your arm.
You gave me back the life I thought was through,
And made my world begin again with you.
IX
I love to kiss your lips and taste the truth,
A nectar that can make a man divine.
You give me back the fire of my youth,
When I can press my trembling mouth to thine.
One touch from you is all I need to stay,
And feel the weight of time begin to fade.
The ghosts of yesterday are chased away,
And I am no longer lost or afraid.
To be immortal in your loving arms,
Is all the heaven I will ever seek.
You guard me from the world and all its harms,
And give the strength to those who feel so weak.
Your love is like a wine that never ends,
On which my very soul and life depends.
X
I am still living only for your sake,
The Queen who lives inside my every dream.
For every single step that I must take,
You are the light upon the rushing stream.
If you were gone, I'd have no reason left,
To stay within this world of stone and sand.
I'd wander like a spirit quite bereft,
Across a dry and desolated land.
You are the reason that I wake at dawn,
The reason that I fight against the night.
Though all my other comforts may be gone,
You keep the future beautiful and bright.
I owe my breath and pulse to you alone,
The greatest love that I have ever known.
XI
You take such care of me throughout the day,
To lead a joyful life upon this earth.
You brush the thorns and brambles from my way,
And show me what a human soul is worth.
When I am sad, you find a way to smile,
And lift the heavy clouds above my head.
You make the journey worth the extra mile,
And bring the color back to what was dead.
Because of you, the world is not so cold,
The stars above are shining twice as bright.
A story of a brand new life is told,
Within the comfort of your healing light.
I find my peace within your gentle hand,
The happiest man in all this weary land.
XII
So let this poem stand as proof of love,
Composed within a hospital's white walls.
With witness from the stars that shine above,
Until the final curtain slowly falls.
By Dipankar, these words are written down,
To honor you, the Queen of every thought.
Who traded in my sorrow for a crown,
And gave me everything for which I sought.
I am your servant and your loyal friend,
As long as there is life within my chest.
A love like this shall never have an end,
But find within your heart its final rest.
The song is done, but love will still remain,
To wash away the shadow of the pain.
