My Star Poem by Mara Manzano

My Star

You planned it, you planned it from the start
All the things we’d do as soon as you’ll have my heart
Days went really fast and we were there
In a secluded, wonderful island with breezy air

You took amazing care of me like I was a kid
I’ve never felt this cared for and with that, I admit
That I don’t ever want to lose you, or else I’ll cry
‘Cause Love, I can never allow us to say goodbye

There in that island, we were free
I was so happy that I could have you all for me
We didn’t care about how we looked, we walked in the sand
I know it’s silly but I did wish for us to be stuck in that land

We met this little kid named Sergio
When I looked at him I knew you were his hero
‘Cause you taught the child how to take pretty pictures
And up to now I could still recall his happy gestures

When we had to leave the place, we said we’ll be back
But on our way home we were under attack
By gigantic waves and a flaming sun
But of course we didn’t let that ruin the fun

Earlier, as I went out of my house I looked at the sky
And behind the clouds, I gazed up so high
I remember how you hurriedly showed me those sparkles from afar
As I looked up, I saw millions. But my love, you will always be my star.
