My Star Poem by chris schwartz

My Star

She's been running on empty
All of her life
Giving herself
To others.
She's been dreaming
Of something
All of her life
Of untangling
The web
She's been under.

Her eyes are tired.
But he still remembers
Her smile.
He grabs her hand
And says
I'm your man
Every moment
If for just a short while.

She's been waiting
All of her life
For the gift
That she's finally
Been given.
She wants nothing more
In this life
Except the man
Who she's finally living
With.

He holds her hand.
He kisses her cheek.
He lets her know
She is loved
She can finally breathe.
He feels her pain.
He lets her
Do her thing.
She lets go
Of everything.
He helps her believe
In all that she didn't
He carries on
Even though
She just couldn't.

It's funny
How pain
Brings shelter
And love
Brings loss
But love
Brings peace
To those
So distraught.

His great ship
Will sail
Gracefully
Through rocky waves
He is my rock,
Dodging me, navigating me
Through the uncertain waters
Of what we built.
But the adventure,
Was worth the roughest tides.
And I am so glad
We rode them,
Together.
