Navigate Poem by David Schjott

Navigate

Stars
Moon
Hemisphere
Longitude
Latitude
Sextant
Compass

I used them
to find my way back
to you?

They could not get me
there.

I simply needed to do more.

If I were lost
would you try and find me?
Would you search and
search?
Throw me a lifeline?
Would you tether it to your
ship?
Would you pull me
onboard
using all your strength?
Would you wrap my
withered frame in your
blanket?
Would you tie a string so I
wouldn't forget?

I need to find my way
back
to you.

I need to make it home.
