Ne Regret Rien Poem by Mary Champion

Ne Regret Rien

It was all set out before you -
predestined or unavoidable -
the intractable trajectory of your life.
What happens
is what was always going to happen.
For it had been written.

Every step of your journey was foreseen,
and yet,
you learned every lesson it had to teach you -
which was always the point.
An anticipated step is still a step
that moves you along the road to wherever
you were intended to go.
So shed the guilt and regret,
if you have become wise enough to do so,
for there was nothing,
nothing at all,
that you could have done
to change any of it.
