My hunger had been starved of a vacation.
For years - decades, they had promised so much -
promised that all my needs would be met
my anxieties soothed,
my sickness healed
my shelter guaranteed.
But for all their promises,
for all the waiting
and for all my wanting,
nothing had come if it.
For years I had lived on hope,
but now even that had been removed.
There would be no end to my emptiness.
