Never Again Goodbye Poem by Richard Phipps

Never Again Goodbye

We brush past each other in the darkness.
Electric is the moment.
Heat lightning, sparks flying,
whispers through the air.
My hand reaches out in that darkness,
to touch the silk of your hair.

I just want to be near you.
I just want to hear from you.
See the smile on you face.
The look in your eyes.
Never suffer goodbyes.
Never worry over lies.

I'd rather give than take.
Surrender peace,
to soothe the burning ache.
Make it all better,
though for me it might forsake.
Can't walk away,
will risk it might be fake.

I don't have what it takes,
to save me from that ache.
To pull me from that fire.
The cause of my downfall - desire.
Must teach myself not to care,
but it's not happening, I swear.

It's two o'clock in the morning
and I can't sleep.
Staring blindly at the ceiling,
wondering if you're asleep.

You're leaving in the morning,
and I want to go along,
but I know that's not happening,
so I'll have to go it alone.

Someday I'll hear from you,
Once again I'll be near to you.
Sparks will fly.
Peace will not deny.
Never again say goodbye.
