Never Me Poem by Charles Malcolm

Never Me

Once you chip away at the concrete
you'll discover frozen ropes of steel rebar
that utter,
'Never me.'

You'll don that look that they all have
like you walked in on me pissing.

You'll offer guiltless apologies
as you bend down to collect my stones
only so that you can put them back
and forget what I let you see.
