New Hope Poem by Kalee Skriver

New Hope

A fading robin flies towards a wall,
Hoping, believing it will break his fall.
Yet when it comes to the last, and final, sudden impact,
There comes a reaction that is much more abstract.
Instead of a wilted, broken, little bird,
Up arises a creature much more absurd.
A phoenix of strength, and power, and might,
Soars ahead and takes new flight.
What was once a simple, humble, tiny creature,
Has now transformed to express a new feature:
Strength in love and self-security,
Now fully grown in maturity.
He now can soar the skies with confidence,
No longer shall he fear that which is unknown
