No Need; I’m Catholic Poem by Michael P. Johnson

“I’ve come to shine my Saviour’s Light
To share with you life’s wine
To speak of love of sheer delight
Of Christ God’s Lamb divine”

“I’m Catholic friend, I have no need
I’ve heard of Christ in school
The Virgin and the holy creed
In life I’m no one’s fool

I’m Catholic, so I have no doubt
I’ll reach God’s shore above
I know what Christ is all about
I’ve heard about His love

Religion is too personal friend
Of such I never speak
When young I learned to comprehend
No need have I to seek

But still to church I sometimes go
Whilst there confess my sin
I know the things I need to know
So Satan cannot win

As Catholic I don’t do much wrong
I never steal or kill
I know too well where I belong
I know I do God’s will

“If you had Christ, you’d know I’m right
You’d know He’s at your door
Against the truth you wouldn’t fight
Instead you’d seek for more!

Take heed and think my words not odd
A tree must learn to bend
Prepare on earth to meet your God
With Christ as personal friend”…
