Nobler Poem by Nathan Beery

Nobler

Maybe there's a little less wrong with me,
And more to do with the world that lives to torment me-
Shark boy, but I don't bite...
Push long enough and eventually I might,
But who are they to say,
Who I am, or will be-
Weather 'tis nobler, wasn't a question about life,
More so about enduring strife-
But who is nobler the one who strikes first,
Or the one who doesn't, cause he knows it'll make it worse?
They don't know what it's like to be broken down,
On a high-horse wearing their petty crown-
Do you back down or hold your ground?
What is nobler?
To suffer, or to keep at bay?
When your tormentors are all you have left?
Partially abandon, partially bereft-
What's nobler?
To keep suffering, or to fight to the death?
It's less a question of everything else, and more
Of one of what they've done,
Cause they've broken me,
And what they left is a creature of insanity
What's nobler...
What's nobler-
What's Nobler?
To be...
Or not to be?
