What's normal? Shifts like sand,
Depends on place, depends on land.
A time, a group, a circle small,
Normal changes, answers all.
We follow scripts, unspoken lines,
That keep things steady, make things shine.
'Hello' said, 'Hello' returned,
A gentle lesson, quickly learned.
Sad faces meet a quiet tone,
We match the feeling, not alone.
A funeral's hush, a game's loud cheer,
Context guides us, year by year.
Normal's not perfect, clean and neat,
But common ground beneath our feet.
A messy bunch, diverse and true,
Finding ways to live as you,
And me, and us, a tangled thread,
Normal's the glue that holds instead.
