Normalcy Poem by Dan Walters

Normalcy

Rating: 2.7

I have lost motivation to write
The words don't seem to come as easily
As they did once
Which were still simple and
Not the slightest bit intriguing

See to be a writer you must have wit,
Be clever, maybe even use a play on words
I've tried this but ended up
Looking like a damn fool
But this is who I am
Not just in writing
I am half skilled
At pretty much everything I do
It's disappointing really,
Knowing I won't be hailed as a great athlete,
Or writer, or temporary musician, or pool shark.
I can probably work under people very well though.
I mean all these other people who are just like me
Can do it everyday
And they make a decent amount of money
I suppose
It's always like this
With a few exceptions of course.
It's not that it's a trap
Or we didn't apply ourselves
Some of us are just average
If it weren't this way
Then that classification wouldn't exist
And we would be masters of our craft
Then this to would become normal
