North Star Poem by Miguel Cano

North Star

Rain clouds above, covering the firmament,
trying to find my way out of this wilderness.
If only I could find someone to guide me,
the clearing of the skies will be determinant.

Carrying with me for years this bitterness,
to catch my breath I'll kneel on one knee.

I'd lost all hope but suddenly clouds opened,
and higher up, I heard a soft voice speak:

'I am the star, you know my shine is permanent,
and my love for you is strong and will never die.
Together we will break away from the encirclement
that binds your heart in chains and makes you cry'.

...Confusion, self-delusion, and bad judgment,
(a bad dream that I had to wake up from)
and appeasing, the beating of the drum,

I am grateful for the north star in the sky.
