Not On Sale Poem by alonge oluwabukolami

Not On Sale

Use to whisper
my love for you
to the firmament
but it cost me so much
One day the star looked at me
and asked 'for how long are you going to do this? '
I summoned courage,
stood on the bridge of Paris
telling the whole world
my love for you will not die

The sun came out every morning
asking
'Are you still in love? '
The Cherubs come near,
listen to my heart, laugh and fly away
they later told the sun her heart beats his name

The stars sent merchant
with trinkets made from precious stones
the price they want to offer for this love of mine
I looked up the sky and said
My love is not on sale
It is strange said the merchants
Yes! it is more reason why it
is not on sale
i can trade my gap-tooth, my births-mark and my smile but
never this.
Never can i
for this is my life
every breath goes into this
they went away sad because
this love though strange
Was not on sale
