A gaping nothingness
Consumes my innermost self
Even heated words
Lack conviction
My eyes dark,
Save when they reflect
The light from yours,
I drift in a deep, wide river
And a swift current tosses me
Back and forth.
Treading water
I seek the shore,
Praying for a light
To show me where I go,
For a hand to reach out
To pull me free
Before the water
Sucks me beneath
