I thought this child of God was wise
I opened Satan’s door
And like a fool, believed his lies
His evil charm once more
The world was once my hunting ground
All life I saw as game
But steeped again in sin I’m found
Confessing God my shame
Because I’ve heard Salvation’s call
Because the truth was mine
I gave no thought again to fall
Nor drink the tempter’s wine
Nor fill my cup with wayward sin
Partake of lustful gain
I never though deceit could win
And cause God’s child such pain
But here in jail I’m wide awake
Just as the devil planned
I so regret my sad mistake
For now! I understand
My life; I lay before You bare
To You! My God I turn
Your Spirit! Lord, I need to share
For all sin’s filth to burn
In robes of shame I find no rest
From dross I must be free
I need Your Flame within my breast
Your Light to shine in me
Before my God I humbly bow
At Jesus’ feet I pray
Show mercy! To Your servant now
Don’t send this child away.”

You have a neat and nifty style. Such great rythm and style! I never even heard of the word 'dross', until now. Had to look it up. Now i have another word in my arsenal of wordly missiles. Easy ten here, can't wait to read the second part. God bless all poets and readers alike-MJG.
