Now Lost Poem by William B. Deutscher

Now Lost

I looked
to see
your face,
remembered
from a distant place,
now lost.
A wayward
creeping
love,
like sadness
hung above,
now lost.
Time,
a shaded gray,
looking up
the street
all away,
now lost.
Our fate was
something else,
sold out with
a midnight stealth,
now lost.
Our dream
was put to rights,
with targets brought
In sight,
the sum
of many fears
laid out
both far and near,
now lost.
The thing turns back
on you,
no matter what
we do.
