Observation Poem by Francis Poole

Observation

From the news
I've been reading lately
I'm astounded
that you don't see
more people
on their knees
or prostrate
on the sidewalks
stopping traffic
in the streets
in the shops and stores
in the schools
on the playgrounds
at the beaches
in the factories
in the offices
in the stadiums
in the cafes
in the whore houses
in the banks
in the churches
in the bars
in the prisons
in the jails
in the hospitals
in the cruise ships
in the ski resorts
in the warships
on the flight line
in the barracks
in the hotels
in the restaurants
in museums and galleries
in First Class
and Economy
crying and begging
for one more chance.
