Occupancy In Infinity - Poem by Steven Adelman

Occupancy in infinity
The ant on my ass-
What sushi could I buy
For just 10 dollars?
Persistence is prominence
I told that
To a girl
Who I couldn’t even get it up with
And she had a rack if you ever saw one,
She put her tongue
Against my cock
And I sat there and giggled
Because I thought of how silly this fellatio
Really was

A Chinese man in the parking lot
he doesn’t even know I’m watching

& lately I’ve been curling my lips
& I have a tic of the head
Sudden movements down and to the left

Brought on by night & new anxieties

Most of which are consumed by
“irrational thought”

Doctors tell me to hang in there anyway

I might as well take their advice
& “hang in there”

I could stop complaining, but what fun would that be?

& all the while I still think WHY GOD but if we never asked why we’d
Never know and if we never knew we would all be in Heaven
Because knowing is not knowing
& i know you'd like nirvana if you ever saw it

A new girl and her friend
Came over into my room and we got high and I tried
To look down the tan girls shirt

Says who wouldn’t?
Says no one if you saw her!

A fat girl by the window
A blonde dropped her purse
She bent over and I bet her friend
Saw my eyes

A bastard at the chess table &
the girl with pale indented cheeks
Savory of expression

Allow me to please answer
The follow questions

What form is delight?
The essence of light
The darkness of night
Because I have lips
That mold to yours
And if forever meant no time
Or time all
It wouldn’t make a damn difference
To me anyways because as of late perhaps
Now or in the last 10 seconds of my mind I’ve declared
Eternal civil war

I’d die
If I could be happy
For just 10 seconds

To know nothing
In the dark
To be absorbed
And lit to spark

To become a saint
In the womb
In the immediate black tide where my fate is sealed

20 yrs later I find
Myself in a coffee shop
With a girl next to me
Whose covered in spring beauty
I should call her my summer lady
Who I sculpt and trap in infinity
On pages in a notebook
But I close my eyes
And in the end
Wonder how the hell this deal went down

Blue bird day dream
Those clouds
Like birds
And not people
Are free

Because you can never catch a bird
But you can always catch a creature
With legs

Isolation
Completes
Insanity
Like a hole in the clouds
Where the mind hides
