Ode To Gratitude Poem by Olawale Owoeye

Ode To Gratitude

I passed by, in the Lexus of thoughts
And reflections, the sights that behold
My integrity and ingenuity,
Honking the horn of love and appreciation

I passed by in the leg-source, and stood in the sun that overreacts to
My colour, and wondered what
Dyed us so dark. Yet our teeth are brighter
Than the sun of this day.

I become a butterfly beautifying the garden of the face of the day, clapping out a song
With the lips of my wings.
Can you hear the 'thank you' that
Gushes from the river bank of the tunes?

I become a black bird,
Sitting on Easter's cross facing the cathedral.... I sing a song for my beloved.
Oh, listen to the jazz of my throat!

I sing the lullaby of appreciation,
That greases your hearts like a balm of love.
I passed by, waving my palm that
Display the poem of 'thank you! '
