Ode To The Automatic Doors That Close On Everyone Poem by Pamela Storch

Ode To The Automatic Doors That Close On Everyone

How wonderful it truly is,
That folks of every kind,
Receive accommodation,
So that no one's left behind,

No matter your ability,
A wheelchair, walker, cane,
The doors do not discriminate,
They'll cause your shoulders pain,

For when you wave to open them,
They only go halfway,
You push them as they spill your drink,
They close, you back away,

And why'd they make them hard to push,
Like going to a gym,
You shouldn't need a workout,
Just to finally come in,

And why a wave detector,
When you enter, then they close,
They need a motion sensor,
When you enter, then it knows,

A wheelchair should not be a wedge,
Between a closing door,
And walkers should not spill their drinks,
Or leave with muscles sore.
