Odun Nla Poem by Olalekan Ololade Sobande

Odun Nla

ODUN NLA
Sobande Olalekan
:
Rams are on the queue again to meet their waterloo
A fate they must strictly adhere to
"Do not let them kill me"
Out of fear, a ram whispered to me
In case you help me see lolo
Make you tell her I don go
:
I watch from afar as they slaughtered them
A dejected and relentless face is what I saw on them
But what shall I do to save them
Nothing! God's command I will never condem
In case you help me see lolo
Make you tell her I don go
:
Such is life
And not a fife
What makes others cry
To others could be source of joy and rye
In case you help me see lolo
Make you tell her I don go
:
And when they'd done so
They said it does so
And they bring some meat
"Eat and see" I began to eat.
In case you help me see lolo
Make you tell her I don go
:
They fetched me some drinks and poured it
I began to mix it.
I took out my hand and began to lick it
And it tasted good, what a good meat.
In case you help me see lolo
Make you tell her I don go.
:
I asked in deep voice, was it a meat day?
They held me gently and made me sit, "No, it is Eid-el-mubarak day"
Then I asked, "what made them kill ram? "
And they replied, "God created and made them kill ram"
In case you help me see lolo
Make you tell her I don go.
