Off To Land Poem by Nimi Olabanji

Off To Land

I swam my way...for to the shore
I took my tail and kept it on a rock
Under the nocturnal light of the moon
I was certain that my life couldn't last a second more
It was like I was stuck in a block
It was like a fade of bloom
We weren't meant to be out on land you know,
it was more or less killing ourselves
Like some kind of human feed
I wish I could make my way to the other side of the ocean and start all over again
