Old Friend Poem by bob barci

Old Friend

I woke up today at 6: 45 a.m.
and couldn't get back to sleep.
Got the day off,
so I could have.
Put on my sweatpants
and put out the garbage.
While the coffee was brewing,
I thought of something.
Isn't your birthday in a few days?
I thought so.
We've fallen out of touch over the past few years
and that's a damn shame.
Somehow we've got to get together.
We used to spend a lot of time together.
Now it's spent elsewhere.
Separate ways don't have to keep us apart.
Our paths should cross
as often as possible.
So, whadd'ya say old friend?
Oh, and by the way, Happy Birthday.
