Old Photograph Of Me Poem by Karl Newton

Old Photograph Of Me

Looking at photographs
From a time long ago
Staring at the printed image of myself
Unable to feel a connection
There's just no recollection

The young, confident boy staring back at me
Just isn't someone I feel I used to be
Disconnected black holes in my memory

What happened to that little boy?
So ambitious, full of confidence and joy
Fearing nothing
Not taking no as an answer
Being a fearless chancer

He wanted to be an architect
Or a man bound for space
Maybe rich or famous
I don't know that kid
Although he bares my youthful face
