On Hearing From You
after opening your book at the right page
I first read all the good words and they
make me feel good.
next I go back to the top of the page
to read all the bad words and they
make me feel bad.
I'd be content if I could find
a way to string those words together
so one cancels out the other in my mind.
Then I'd feel nothing
which is really the best way to be,
at least for me.
