On The Metro Poem by Dann Thomas

On The Metro

Rating: 2.5

On the train, people and places
Hurtle by, as time flies
Windows to different worlds
One looking in and the other outside
Time slows and changes pace
Another people another place

Strangers every where
People with stories each own
Some tracks lead to another
Some happy, some strange
Where one ends another starts
When one is born another departs

In a compartment different lives meet
Each with his load of care
Some with papers, other with tools
Some distinct, others coded
Some create, while some destroy
Life’s stage play, in a simple toy

The world outside a coloured range
Nature’s splash or drought that’s dry
The haves and the want more
Their riches protect, while
Those that don’t, show little care.
Pain and creases of want and wear.

Love is around, a smile giggles
A dreamer dreams beyond, while
the depressed seeks solace in death.
Beauty and pride, desolation, hope
The true, the emotional, the fakes
Minds bump as the train brakes.

The world moves on to different times
One way to happiness or otherwise
Too many people, too many thoughts
Two trains in a station, going different ways
And she chose to Smile,
and that has made all the difference.

For the unknown become known,
And strangers made friends
Through that one smile
Just given, nothing expected
So easy, so careless, so warm
And just then a train is born.
