On The Waters


A love boat on the ocean deep

a house boat on the Srinigar lake

a yacht in the south of France

a berth cabin on a luxury liner,

yes, even a coracle on the river

fishing for trout and salmon

in the quiet early morning


A sailing boat on Adventure river

a rowing boat upstream to a weir

a canoe we paddle together

over the rapids and vicissitudes

of life,

a Caledonian MacBrayne ferry

over the sea to Skye


Yellow River, Pearl River,

we'll take to the waters

like ducks in springtime.
