Once Every 10 Years Poem by Melpomene's Tears

Once Every 10 Years

Rating: 5.0

Moving fields of blue-green water
as far as the eye can see
sunlight winks from the dancing waves
playing hide and seek
Above the sea she stands
on that lonely ledge
she sees not the beauty
she hears not the seagulls nor the waves
she feels not the wind blowing her auburn hair
there she stands, silent and unguarded
scanning the edge of the ocean
with weary hopeful sapphire eyes
She looks hard, searching, waiting
hope sighs slowly in her heart,
sinking into the shadows of her love sick heart
she still waits on the ledge
for the sun disappear
so she might chance upon
that flash of emerald light today
to welcome him home
again.
