One Ember Poem by J Patrick Murphy

One Ember

My darkness has overtaken,
My light shrinks beneath its gloom.
When will my wildfire be 'wakened?
That my passion may fin'lly bloom?

I cloak myself with 'mblazoned distress,
While hiding behind vacuous smile.
A facade that none shall e're transgress,
Lest I become completely reviled.

But 'midst my dark and desolate heart,
Dwells one ember still burning bright.
Give it some time, and it shall start
To inspire my retreating light.

One spark is all it ever takes
To set a forest to a blaze.
A flash so small, do not forsake
For its desolation will amaze.

So though I wallow 'midst shadowy mire
Where dark and death unite.
My destined path looks far less dire,
For one ember burns through the night.
