One Last Dance Poem by shelbie bozeman

One Last Dance

your hands around me
holding me so tightly
protecting me from the world
but I can't stay with you
you are slipping from my grasp
your heart with someone else

you release me from your hold
and left me in the rain
and I walk down that road
paved with the tears of my past
realizing that I never had you
and you were never mine
and as I remembered our last dance
I realized it was time to say goodbye
to what could have been
forever
